WhatsApp QR code generator

Free WhatsApp QR code generator

Customers scan and land in a WhatsApp chat with you, with a message already typed if you like. No saving your number first. Free, no account.

1. What should it do?

2. Destination

This one could be dynamic.

Right now this link is locked into the code forever. With a dynamic code you could change where it points after it's printed, and see how many people scanned it.

3. Design

A logo raises error correction to the highest level automatically. 25% is the tested ceiling — past that the code stops resolving.

Print at 2 cm or larger, and always test-scan the final artwork.

How it works

1

Enter your WhatsApp number

Use the full international format with no plus sign, spaces or dashes — for a US number, 1 then the 10 digits, like 15551234567.

2

Add a starter message (optional)

Something like “Hi, I’d like a quote” tells you where the customer came from and saves them typing.

3

Download and test

Scan it with a phone that has WhatsApp installed. It should open a chat with your number and the message ready to send.

Good places for a WhatsApp code

  • Shop windows and counters, for questions after hours
  • Flyers, posters and direct mail
  • Product packaging and inserts, for support
  • Trade-show booths and vehicle signage

Track which flyer worked

Use a different pre-filled message on each print run — “Hi from the spring flyer”, “Hi from the store window” — and you’ll see in WhatsApp where each conversation started. For scan counts and a link you can change later, make it a dynamic code.

Questions

What number format does a WhatsApp QR code need?

The full international number with digits only: country code first, no plus sign, spaces, dashes or leading zeros. For the US that is 1 followed by your 10-digit number.

Does it work with WhatsApp Business?

Yes. The code opens a chat with whichever WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business account uses that number.

What if the person scanning doesn’t have WhatsApp?

The link opens a WhatsApp web page that prompts them to install the app or continue in a browser.

Can I change the number or message later?

Not on a free static code — both are written into it. A dynamic QR code lets you change the destination after printing.

Need to change it after printing?

Dynamic QR codes let you change where a printed code points, any time, and show how many people scanned it.
